Soaring Stories

Stories can help you soar.  When a storm comes, the eagle does not sit out the storm in a tree.  It rises above the storm and soars in the heavens.  Stories can help you overcome obstacles and make you stronger.

Academic Learning and Local Problem Solving

Navajo children learn early how to make meaningful and useful contribution to the welfare of the family.  They are given sheep at an early age and are taught that if they want their flock to multiply, they must be willing to care for the entire family's herd.  They also are taught to help gather materials for and participate in healing ceremonies where they sing, dance, paint, pray, and tell stories.  They learn to apply their learning to helping solve local problems.

With NCHO/YES, Navajo Kentuckians, and NexGen Networking, we strive to connect directly academic learning to local problem solving like diabetes, food desert, Global warming, etc.  We want youths to enjoy learning, exploring, and discovering.  They need to learn to learn for life.
